Busker returns as drawcard
Mortlake Dispatch
Deborah Hocking has tasted nothing but success since coming to Mortlake for its annual music festival.
The last two years the solo artist has taken top spot at the Mortlake Buskers Festival in the solo female section.
In 2003, Hocking has earned a place on stage as a special guest performer.
Mortlake Buskers Festival Committee president Tony Phillips said having Deborah on stage was a major coup.
"Many music lovers compare the singer/songwriter with the likes of Deborah Conway and Sally Dastey," he said.
Hocking spread her wings to solo singing five years ago after many years of playing in bands.
The singer is no stranger to the festival and hotel scene, having appeared across the nation.
"The track EP Stage and album D-Day have been highly acclaimed throughout the music industry," Mr Phillips said.
With the appearance of Ross Wilson, Heaven Scent, Deborah Hocking and other top billing artists, the 2003 on stage concert appears certain to surpass other years.
Mr Phillips said the 'early bird' ticket sales were proving popular.
For six dollars the public have the opportunity to purchase their entrance ticket and save themselves $1.50.
Tickets are available at the MCDC at Mortlake with a receipt issued upon payment.
This offer is available only until Christmas Eve.
