What do you most love about your suburb?
"Moreland has the highest proportion of musicians of all the municipalities. It’s down to earth, creative and multicultural."
What has been the best experience (s) of your life?
"Choosing music... and the moment a song is finished that I know is good."
What has been the funniest?
"I walked into a pub to see a friend’s band play and was approached by a man with a most original pick-up line. He said ‘I was Plucka Duck on Hey Hey It’s Saturday!’"
What would you like to achieve before your time is up in this world?
"Redress gender inequality at all levels, globally, once and for all."
Who do you most admire and why?
"Older women -- their stories of wisdom and courage."
Where is your favorite place in Melbourne and why?
"Outdoors, reading a second-hand book on the lawn along the Yarra. Indoors, seeing any band play at The Empress, North Fitzroy."
What is your most treasured possession?
"My sister, not that she’s my possession. She is my web mistress, my belief in myself and my level-headedness."
If you could make three wishes, what would they be?
"To get a manager for the Deborah Hocking Band, get a record company [to pay me] to be creative and write songs all day, and for the next Australian prime minister to be a female."
If you inherited $1 million, what would you do with it?
"Give a good portion to Project Respect (www.projectrespect.org.au) and set up other trust funds for disadvantaged women and victims of abuse, to try to make a difference at an infrastructural level."
